PowerShares QQQ Now Title Sponsor of Tennis Champions Series
PowerShares QQQ has signed on as the title sponsor of the Champions Series national tennis circuit in a multi-year contract that costs seven figures a year—significantly upgrading its event sponsorship solely in Chicago. The agreement kicks off with a 12-city tour featuring tennis icons Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras, John McEnroe and Jim Courier.
Then, in 2012, PowerShares QQQ becomes the umbrella sponsor of the entire series, joining existing sponsors GEICO, ASG Software Solutions, Tennis Magazine, Donnay, Kimpton Hotels, Citation Shares, Izod, Staples, HSBC, Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Washington Trust and the USTA.
“We are thrilled to expand our partnership with PowerShares QQQ to include the title sponsorship of the entire Champions Series starting in 2012,” said Jim Courier, founding partner of the Champions Series.
Invesco PowerShares Chief Marketing Officer Jason Schoepke added, “Our sponsorship of the Chicago leg of the 2011 Champions Series tour has garnered valuable exposure for PowerShares QQQ. We are excited to continue our partnership and extend our reach to a broader audience nationwide.”
Until recently, PowerShares’ parent company Invesco had naming rights to the Denver Broncos’ home; Sports Authority took over that deal.
InsideOut Sports + Entertainment first launched the Champions Series in 2005 for champion tennis players over the age of 30.
