Champions Series Launch

Woke up this morning in my hotel room in Los Angeles fired up to announce the new version of the Champions Series with Andre and Pete today at the Staples Center. I’ve been on the road for a week in Buenos Aires, Santa Fe and now here in LA and am headed home to NYC tonight on the redeye (my 3rd nights “sleep” on a plane in the past 7 days). I’ll be glad to get home but first we get to do some press today to let everyone know that we’re coming to a city near you if you live in the States. 12 cities over a 5 week period from Ft Lauderdale to Buffalo, Seattle to Las Vegas, we’ll be canvassing the US playing in one-night tournaments and it’s going to be a lot of fun competing (and lets be honest, hanging out too) with my friends and competitors. We’re doing a bunch of press today and will also be hitting a few balls on a Quickstart court which is appropriate because one of the things we want to use the Champions Series for is to encourage kids to pick up a racket and Quickstart is the best and most fun way to introduce a kid to tennis. Look for that to be a big part of what we do just before the matches start at each tournament. Our season starts the weekend after the Davis Cup semifinals (Sept 22) so I hope I’ll be coming from a US team victory putting us into the finals this year and jumping right into the Champions Series tournaments…it’s going to a busy and fun fall.
